chequer plated floor mats

Does anyone know where I can get the heavy duty chequer plated floor mats, in Brisbane.

Often seen in autosalon cars. Its thick corrugated and not the type of stuff you can cut with a pair of scissors.

I've previously made some up out of aluminium checker plate :!:

Cuts easily with a decent pair of tin snips, and being aluminium, is easy to bend to the shape of the floor as well...

From memory I got the plate from an aluminium supplier at Zillmere, but I'm sure most al suppliers would have it or be able to get it...

I always thought that real chequer plate was illegal/defectable, although I admit I never heard a reason why

I just used some rubber/plastic and made up my own, got it from clark rubber and no it hasn't worn away it still looks new and cleans up with some water and a rag, I think at least 2 other members here use it as well since they PMed me for details after my original post about it

Real checker plate i think is illegal but don't quote me
reason beingits very slippery whey wet

The rubber checker plate from clark rubber is a much better option
FWIW I had real chaecker plate mats for years in the wet they were a pain in the ass!

i copied SM a while ago.. and it looks great!... i love the metal look type.. but the brushed rubber type does look good.. and yes as Ryan said.. i do believe real metal ones are illegal

hmm interesting that they could perhaps be considered illegal, I hadn't thought of that.

Mine were used in a racecar so it wasn't an issue

Excuse the dirty interior, same pics from last time

I got mine from Clark Rubber in Castle Hill, they call it \"PVC Chequer Plate Flooring\" and it's sold by the metre
It's sort of like a hard rubber/plastic, I just used a sturdy pair of scissors to cut it to the shape I required, using the factory floormats as a template and mine use the factory anchors to stop them moving around as well

IMHO the checkerplate mats look awfull.
If you're going to go for that, you might as well have lino on the floor instead of carpet!

If you want some REALLY nice floormats, that are really nice to use and will have your lady taking her shoes off when in the car, get yourself some sheepskin floor mats.
They look and feel fabulous and give the car a real luxury look and feel.

Because natural sheepskin has a lot of oil, they are actually very easy to keep clean and will last for years.

I have a set in my Merc, in off-white, and they are easier to keep clean than the factory mats, and they look and feel so much better.
