might help some of you out there
There is a test procedure for the coil pack; unfortunately one of the steps requires a 500v mega tester to measure the insulation resistance of the case and this is a tool I am sure not many of us have.
The other steps measure resistance/conductance and are do-able by anyone with an ohm meter and a little electrical knowledge.
Testing the coil pack
* Disconnect all wires from the coil pack.
Continuity - primary coil winding
* Check for continuity between terminals A and D (see first pic), if there is none replace the coil pack.
Resistance - secondary coil winding
* Measure the resistance from 1 to 4 (see second pic) using an ohmmeter. It should read between 8.24-12.36 Kohm (20°C (68°F))
* Perform the same measurement from 2 to 3.
* If not as specified, replace the coil pack.
Case insulation Resistance
Here's where the 500v mega tester comes in handy.
* Measure the insulation resistance between terminal A and the ignition coil case using a 500 V mega tester. It should read above 10 Mohm
* If not as specified replace the coil pack.
