The group buy king did his own slotting. :P
I wonder why those slots in the shape of an open letter \"C\" are popular now.
I've seen fast road cars (in Japan), V8's and F1 with them.
Are they a proprietary design owned by Alcon?

dunno,

apparently the photos are from a shop in adelaide that has the machine to do it & has the designs programmed into it of various patterns, including exact replicas of the ones by known brand names

All MX5 NB8B cars from October 2000 until they introduced the NC can use the \"SP\" rotor (270mm). DBA only call it that to differentiate it from the NB8A rotor which is exactly the same as the NA 1.8 (255mm rotor).

It'll be just a matter of clearances between the caliper and wheel.

Im sorry im a nube I just want to double check and make sure this is correct.

I dont know what kind of NB I drive (I have the fog lights and the 16\" wheels) I was produced late 2000.

1 Are my front DBA rotors DBA part number 338 (255mm)? or DBA part number 545 (270mm)?

2 Not only are the 270mm rotors bigger they are also thicker by 2 mm. So do I have to change the calipars to make the larger 270mm fit my car?

3 If the larger 270mm rotors do fit whats the point when the break pads arnt bigger to take advantage of the larger surface area? Will a larger rotor just add more unwanted weight?

4 Will the larger rear rotors also fit my car?

Even on the same calipers the DS2500's looks slightly bigger in surface area over the sumitomo pads that were on my car when I got it. I doubt the 270mm would be worth it without the calipers/pads to suit.

I'm actually due for pads myself and have been asking around....all DS2500's seem to be $450+ now for an NB8B atleast.... my last set was $180 when it was on special at mania... I wonder what happened. I'll probaly chase up Mania and try to get the HP+ for $195 sent down. I'm not quite ready to be swapping pads/rotors at track-days yet and $450 is more than both the rotors I ordered . That's how much BMS said they'd get a pagid pad cut to suit for....

CT, I believe the auto's (the three that they sold here) had the smaller brakes and 15" rims.

The SP brakes are identical to any other manual NB8B sold, however it is recommended to perform some type of upgrade for "spirited" driving. This is further encouraged by Mazda making the original rotors from tin, so it will be required sooner than later :(
Went for a drive and there were slow cars everywhere, why are NC's so common . . . must be NC = Normally Cardiganed.
