1.8 engine into a 1.6

Postby JSE » Sat Jan 05, 2008 7:10 pm

Are there any modifications needed? Or will it fit perfectly straight in and line up with everything including engine mounts and driveshaft?

From my investigations modifications will be needed as the BP engine is longer than the B6 engine.

There's a kit that FM sell that covers most things, BUT .. we've found that the fuel map can still be pretty screwed with the 1.6 ECU.

The best solution is to buy a Wolf ECU that plugs directly into your 1.6 loom to run the 1.8, that way you can tune the 1.8 and make even more power.

Then you just use all the 1.8 bits like the throttle body and ditch the AFM.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Does the 1.8 ECU plug straight into a 1.6 loom and will that work withought any drama's?

Nope it doesn't (unless its an ecu out of the VERY FIRST NA8s).

Thats why I recon the Wolf is a great solution because you can use the 1.6 loom on your 1.8 and tune accordingly.
