Any Different hard tops available??

Postby Mokesta » Sun Dec 30, 2007 11:24 pm

I've tried the search function here but it blows hard!

Anyway, I'm not the right skin type to be going top-down in Brisbane sunshine and I'd prefer a hard top. The problem is that I've never liked the Mazda wrap around rear window like the factory hard tops (and RX8) have.

So, are there any other brands of hard-tops available that look different? I'm thinking more like the Roadster Coupe style with rectangular back window and small tapering side windows.

there are some aftermarket that have the rear rectangle window instead of the wraparound but I haven't seen any that have the smaller side windows so if you get one your visability will be the same as driving with the soft top up. In comparison the factory hardtop improves rear visability greatly, especially when checking your drivers side blind-spot

[I have dial-up and VERY limited limit so without seeing Babs' link...]
I have seen a couple of CF hardtops on eBay US but without rear glass for some reason. Not sure if it's genuine CF or just a layer.
Same shape as standard.

Carbon fiber Hard Tops come without the window because the glass in a hard top is very heavy and anyone spending the money on CF is probably trying to save weight. You could use glass but most would use plexi glass or Lexan to save weight.
