Basically something like the colour of Tein shocks would work. It's a bit of a shame I still have the stock rims because you can't see my super streets behind the wheels :P

But yeah, that colour would work as well I think.

re brake calipers

Postby Novice1 » Fri Dec 28, 2007 10:31 am

Hi:
I, personally would go with Garys suggestion of gold color calipers.

In fact I might do mine today. I, have a shiny metallic green NB 98 model.

Re orange and matching the side indicators. The clear indicators look so much better. When I changed my indicators I was suprised at how brittle and thin the wiring was, when splicing clear indicators to existing wiring.

Cheers
Ron

Did you splice the indicators to to the reflectors Ron?

I thought about it, but then decided it was too much effort. Am I wrong in thinking it wasn't worth the effort?

Once you've done the gold look, be sure to post up pictures so we can all go "ooh ahh" and decide whether the look is for our own green machines :)

re brake calipers , clear indicators

Postby Novice1 » Fri Dec 28, 2007 10:52 am

Ok, am definitely doing my brake calipers this morning, gold it is.

Re clear indicators, the ones i received from Mx5 mania had there own wiring. To wire up clear indicators to existing wiring, 4 indicators took about hmm 1.5hrs. The wiring on an mx5 is so thin and brittle.

Was it worth it, oh yeah!.

Looking forward to the finished product :)

Yeah, the clear ones I have come with bulbs and all, but there's no factory wiring. I didn't feel it was necessary to extend the indicator wiring down to the front reflectors so didn't. Is that how you wired yours, or did you do it another way?

As for worth it, I know the clear indicators/repeaters are worth the money, but I dunno about the time spent for soldering a bulb up that wasn't there in the first place.

I cleaned up the image tags for you :)

Not looking too bad. It's subtle, although not as 'show car' because of the fact that it's a colour that blends so well with the rest of the bits in that rea of the car.

What rims are those btw? Are they actually OEM Mazda, or is there just a Mazda sticker on aftermarkets?

Thanks for cleaning up the images.

As far as I know they are genuine OEM mazda mags.

Re the wiring of clear reflectors, indicators, I would have to ask my son as he did same to my car for me.

Cheers Ron

Nice indeed if they're OEM. Didn't know Mazda made them like that. Learn something new every day.

As for the wiring, don't go out of your way to find out. I don't intend on bothering with the orange bulbs in the reflectors. After all, if there was no factory wiring, it's hardly worth adding it in.

I picked mine up from MX5parts. I think all up in ended up being around the £65 mark including shipping, which translates to about maybe $100 or so, depending on the exchange rate.

Looks good doesn't it?

Hi:
Masking tape, spray can, kero and turps for removing grease and liquid residue, overspray.

Reflectors and indicators I got from Mx5 mania from memory. Cant remember the price.

I, live at Collingwood Park.

Also removed the knock sensor today, no pinging, no detonation and car idles 300 rpm lower. Will try and get my car on the dyno again this weekend. I, am sure it will be putting out more than 113 atw with knock sensor removed, pulls so much better.

Cheers Ron

I had a look at supercheap today and they only had black, blue, pink, yellow brake caliper paint

what other sort of paint is suitable
