Mate, if it has stopped smoking with the \"stop smoke\" additive, it is just your stem seals, geat a headgasket kit (includes stem seals) for $200 and a timing belt while you are at it.

Pull the head off and get a machine shop to mill it flat and redo the stem seals. Or if the shop does the seals themselves, expect it to cost you around $500.

I wouldn't bother FI on the auto, just sell it and put the $$ towards an SP/SE (been said before i know).

If its your daily and cant afford to be without it for very long. Why don't you buy an import engine and stick it in. Then rebuild your original engine the way you want it for forced induction if thats the plan in the long run. Then once your off the \"P\" plates put the killer motor in along with your turbo or supercharger. If you build a big NA engine now your only gonna have to build it again with new pistons and cams once you go forced aspiration.

Though if your engine is smoky then i would try swap the valve stem seals first. You can do this on the car by filling your cylinder with a constant amount of compressed air as to hold the valve up. If you drop a valve into the combustion chamber then you gotta take the head off anyway.

Do a compression test to see if the rings are letting pressure past.

that was the plan, but if it is the vavle stem seals, i might get a port and polish, cams and gears and call it a day, going for a compression test today. thanks guys, stay tuned!
