cool breeze air scoop aka the bug strainer
So what do we all think of the air scoops? I got mine in and went for a spin and i thought it was fantastic, especially on long drives down the highway. I found it really cooled my feet and at the same time, added like 35hp, at least. Now, there is only one thing which is preventing me from putting it up again. You know the \"grill\" which is meant to sort of catch insects... well in theory this might work but when you drive through a pack of xmas beetles and those other bugs which always seems to hang out together, well its a completely different story. I now feel like the inside of the car just got redecorated in bug juice! The grill quite litterally strained every drop from the bugs and sprayed it all over the center console area. Not only was it juice but long stringy bits which went down into the footwell and over my legs and feet! So, im wondering of anyone else has faced this problem and if they have got a fix for it? I considered replcing it with finer mesh but this would still strain the bugs. Im stumped as to what i should do... i could always just sell it...

Don't drive through swarms of bugs?
If I'd gone in on these, I wouldn't be driving with it whilst on the freeway anyway. Everyday city driving I'd do it, but if I knew there was gonna be some solid cruising involved I wouldn't attach it.
How about getting a finer grade mesh? Or perhaps just putting a plastic \"visor\" that covers over the opening and tilts down kinda like:
|\if that makes sense. That way lots of bugs will just smack the \\ bit and get deflected up. You'll still get plenty of air up there, but it would involve some solid plastic welding type modification to keep that visor bit on.

I think it will let air though and you can thow it away with the 'beetle juice' when you reach your destination.
*Pictures Jimmy pulling up next to PYT - "Excuse me darlin' do you mind whipping your stockings off for me? I've got to go on this drive you see. and there might be a swarm of insects on the way...." SLAP!*

.
Mine effectively scoops cold air. And bugs. And bugs me.
So stocking material it is.
But even this won't deal with the aftermath of using the screen washers!!!!!
PS Will let you know, apparently quite soon, what it does with locusts.
