I was wondering if any of you guys run an aftermarket water temp gauge?

Can you provide real world figures on before and after a turbo install?

I am interested to know weather a radiator upgrade is warranted in an NA6?

Also who in Australia sells the Greddy eManage Ultimate ECU and relevant software?

Thanks

i do, the only time you will see increased temps is when you are constantly on the throttle like on a track day, or if you where running away from the cops :P
Normal cruising and the odd flogging wont do anything.

I don't run an extra water temp gauge - the one in the NA6 is a real gauge, unlike some later models.

I do however run an oil temp gauge.

I upgraded the radiator too to a full metal jobbie - others here use the PWC ones etc....

My NA6 radiator was geeting preety old so I chose to upgrade to a PWR all metal unit. This was in prep for my turbo install.
The 2nd hand turbo kit I bought came with a massive intercooler, similar size to the radiator. I also am able to see the actual coolant temp in 2 degree increments. With the massive intercooler and 35c days I was having overheating issues, both normal road driving and on a driver training track day. I also did not have the under engine tray fitted. I have since replaced the intercooler with a smaller unit and put the under engine tray back. So far no more over temp issues, with the coolant staying in the 89-92c range. The intake air temp is slightly higher with the small intercooler, but no engine knock to date.

Ok thanks guys - 89-92c isn't too bad then. I'd rather a gauge with numbers on it, I know most handsets will tell you but I don't want that sitting in the car all the time. I'll see see how the std radiator goes as mine is in pretty good condition.

I was planning on the AVO S2 kit minus electricals, the car wont see more than about 15psi so the stock intercooler will be fine, they are about 70mm thick from memory and a bar/plate core design. I've used the same intercooler on another car and it was fine. I also have AC as well so yes a little bit less airflow.

i put a brand new standard radiator in mine before i put the turbo on and it is doing well. i have only ever seem the temp gauge get a little bit high once, at a track day at winton raceway. even then, it was still within an acceptable temperature, it was just a bit higher than normal. i had no temp problems at phillip island, but you get a lot more air flowing through you radiator there.. i will probably add an oil cooler soon and then if it ever gets a bit too hot again, i'll upgrade the radiator.

the standard temp gauge has a dead spot in the middle that will show the temp to be about half way over a large temp range...you can get rid of the dead spot by doing a \"linearisation\" mod to the gauge which requires removing the gauge and soldering in some different resistors and capacitors on the back....
