A) have patience young fella, took me a while to get used to the fact that Brisbanites leave it till the last minute to commit
B) time of the year: it's comin' on xmas & people are either flat out getting work & loose ends tied up beforehand or attending xmas piss ups.
C) you're being specific, the work being done is to YOUR car, if you opened it up & said people could do stuff to THEIR cars as well, you'll get better response
D) there is no Beer & Food mentioned, that is a minus amongst 5'ers (they bring their own anyway & the host usually scores leftovers )
E) don't whinge & whine, it'll get you nowhere (well, 'cept if you're Uncle Arthur & throw a full on tanty on aus-cartalk that is )
F) gauntlet throwing also has a negative effect, do it the right way & you can end up having a ball with some great people like this:
to see all about a "Dodgy Day" read here:
Dodgy Detail Day
that was the first Dodgy Day Kim & I had ever hosted........& we'll be doing it again too
easy as......promise some food & drink, open your house & yard up...........you'll have NO troubles

What he said - and you have to be me to do a proper dodgy dummy spit- AND you have to be able to do the work you put out an assistance call for on your own afterwards.....

- Brakes are bled and new blood transfused.
- Rear brakes did not need adjusting
- Handbrake cable adjusted
Car and owner very happy
Lessons learnt:
- Change brake fluids at least every 3 years, do not use mileage as a determination. I have only done 42,000km in the last 8 years and the brake pedal became more and more spongy. I let it go because I was getting used to it and adapted.
- on advice from Tezzax5, I cleaned the inside of the front quarter panel as it was full of crap. Please read my write up in the Body, Paint section

Slave cylinder had no leaks externally, but when we pulled the boot away from the cylinder body, fluid dripped out, so we figured it had a very small leak, and you would expect it for a 130,000km, 13yo car.
I'm letting it sit for another few months, and when it comes for my regular 6 monthly oil change, I'll be replacing the whole thing instead of rebuilding it.
If there is a Dodgy Day within the next few months, I'll do it then.
Thanks JBT.
