NA6 Instrument cluster into NA8?

Postby Alfadog » Sun Nov 04, 2007 5:56 pm

Hi hi,
Hopefully this simple question has a simple answer... but we'll see:

1. Will an NA6 instrument cluster fit into NA8?
2. Are there any differences between the two?

Thanks :)

I don't know the answer, but I have to ask, what is your objective in doing this?

Sure, the objective is buying an aftermarket cluster from Japan described as \"for NA6\".

I bought it anyway. If it doesn't fit I'll just have to sell it off.

I can't see why it won't fit. Heck, I've got an NA cluster in an NB dash. A few small mods were required to each, but it fit.

I expect your cluster will drop in with no modification.

the NA6 cluster has a proper analogue oil pressure gauge, while the later NA8 clusters have the 'idiot light'. the gauges expect different signals.

the jap cluster speedos also have a lower top speed, so your speedo will be out.

Hey Alfadog..

Use the search at the top, I covered all this a few months back.. :P

http://www.aus-cartalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=26707&highlight=cluster

Im running a Jap NA6 cluster in my Clubman, with no issues what so ever. The only difference is the 180kmh top speed, instead of 220kmh.

The speedo does not go out, I checked out all speeds with my GPS, and it was all spot on.. 1 kmh slower, than all indicated speeds on the cluster. Soo your doing 99kmh @ 100kmh on the cluster.

You will have to install a vdo oil pressure sender, for the oil gauge to work with your car. But other than that you will have no problems..

Cheers
Ryan
