Part Number for O2 sensor NA6

I know this has been covered heaps but all im after ia a part number for a 4-wire universal O2 sensor to fit a NA6 to quote to repco. Calling repco and asking them got me no where so any help is much appreciated.

I just called Bocsh directly and they told me that they dont make a 4-wire universal oxygen sensor for mx5's between 89-93 :shock:

I was sure there were ppl on this forum who have put a bocsh 4wire into their 1.6 mx5. Ive dont lots of searching online and all i get is US part numbers. Also found numerous threads on this forum but can find any part numbers for the 1.6. Is it the same plug as the 1.8? If so, i could just stick a 1.8 4-wire plug in couldnt i?

Maybe thats because NA6's never came with a 4 wire sensor :!:

I would suggest that everyone has been using the 1.8 version and doing their own heater wiring.

Ah okay. Thanks Garry. I knew they didnt come with one but was under the impression they made an aftermarket 4-wire plug. Well i guess ill be getting the 1.8 plug!

Boags fitted one to his, i can't remember exactly which model it was off but I think it was a vs. It was cheaper to buy the one made for a commodore and cut the plug off than it is just to get a universal 4 wire.

It's just a matter of hooking up the heater to power and runnig the earth back to get a good ground, the origional sensor just earths through the exhaust.

Do a search. There's part numbers on this forum somewhere for the single wire unit.

Yeah i found Boagys write up for them but unfortunately it didnt state which plug it was. Anyway, i just got a hold of repco again, quoted me $137 for the universal 4-wire. I hope they are open to offers coz that seems a bit steep to me.

Yea thats why we got the commodore one it was alot cheaper.

I had a 4-wire one for a while, bought from FM for a not cheap sum. DIY wired it in. Died after a year or so.

I went down to Repco with the original, they gave me a 1-wire replacement with the same thread. $60 as I recall (trade rates, must've liked the way I looked!). It lasted >6 years until I sold the car.

There was absolutely no difference in the way either behaved, the warmup time, nothing. (I monitored this constantly with an AFR display.)

In short: buy a 1-wire.
