Problem Solved

Postby RG.net » Thu Nov 15, 2007 2:10 pm

ok i'm in the process of polishing my engine bay, and the dremel gets caught on a wire and rips them out of their socket, the socket is located at the front of the cam cover i need to know 2 things

1. how many wires go into this socket through the right side?

2. what colours go where?

thank you so much, please help straight away!

Try this link which includes a wiring diagram (PDF) for the 2000 model. Note it is probably for the USA model, but hopefully will help you.

http://www.madracki.com/miata/wiring.html

On a side note I would suggest that where possible the parts being polished such as the cam cover be removed first. Makes things a lot easier and these kind of problems shouldn't happen.

Good luck with the fix and post some pics when you have completed the polishing.

the black wires have been there for years so they will have formed / shaped into position due to tension etc. so i'd reckon if you try to follow the natural curve of the wire you should be able to figure out which wire goes to which socket.

i think the top black wire in your photo goes to the top socket, the bottome wire to the bottom socket.

seeing as they are both black, they may be earths and it may not matter if you mix them up anyway. at least, i hope so for your sake!

i'm not so sure either, i was just hypothesising. probably should have kept my mouth shut on that one tho, it could be a real disaster if he mixed the wires up and then blames me

crocaine i think you need to get a multimeter and trace the wires back to the ecu pins, and identify which black is which for certain. probly best not to just take pot luck with this one mate.
