When I did this mod to my SP, the difference could be felt through the seat of the pants.
It just revved harder and the boost gauge went up by around 2 lbs, so it really does work.
On a club dyno day, my SP put out 152.2RWKw and standard SP's were putting out around 133-145 RWKw, so it must make a measurable difference.
Go ahead and splurge out for the $2.50.
If you're not happy with it, it's easy to reverse.
The only downside I noted was that the engine did jerk around when backing off the throttle while under boost, but SP's do that anyway and you learn to drive around it.
