You can buy direct from Boss Frog. A few Miata sites sell them, forgot which ones, it's in my bookmarks somewhere.
They retail for about $440 USD for the chrome ones, the black ones are around 15% cheaper.
This might seem expensive, but these bars not only look good, they are functional in a rollover, stiffen-up your body and it's approved for racing in the US so there may be a fair chance it can get CAMS approval.
And when you compare it to prices of things like strut tower braces, anti-sway bars ... ehhh fohged about eht 8)

I noticed that there has been group buys for big ticket items like the Flying Miata butterfly brace ..... so maybe .....

I didn't really want to drill any holes into the bodywork...But i agree they look excellent...

pricing seems ok but i'm thinking the postage will cost the same as the bars.....

Shipping from the US is actually MUCH cheaper than equivalent Aus Post rates.
The most expensive thing I got a quote for was a complete turbo kit from Flying Miata weighing in at 110pounds. This equates to $375 USD.
The bars would weigh 1/3 of this, but the shipping would not necessarily be 1/3 cheaper.
I would be surprised if it costs more than $250 USD shipped.

Oh well ....

I'm not trying to detract your from the bars you have your eye on (as I said I WAS also interested in them) but the \"mouse-trap\" thing just gave me shivers.

I'm still in two minds about mouse traps...I keep thinking about a rodeo that went over the back of someones mx5 a couple of months ago..

I actually work for Aust post here in brissie but thing i'm concerned with is the volume of the parcel not the weight...

I have friend that used to be president of the local corvette club, going to ask him about maybe a container delievery?

I'm very interested... 8)

I looked into importing the Deuce or the BossFrog at the beginning of the year and recall that BossFrog gave a $300-350USD shipping quote but got no reply from Bethania Garage. That’s a bit too expensive for something that I consider “mainly” bling for the streets…though I would still love to have one ;)

I prefer the look of the Deuce. Although it’s hasn’t been roll tested, it’s significantly stronger (with multiple mounting points) than a stylebar. I personally don’t like the appearance of a standard (BD) rollbar on a street car.

I've seen photos of rollovers and that really got me anxious about wanting to install one of these. I thought the A-pillar was strong enough to take a fair bit of abuse, but not according to the photos.

If your queries pan out, post a new topic here cause there would be a fair chance that we can get around 10 people interested. Especially from those who take theirs to the track regularly.

Tezza, I sent a quick email to Boss Frog asking about bulk discount and shipping. Will send you a PM when I get a reply.

MX5Plus is in the process of designing and making some roll bars for some of us, and I'm sure they will end up being produced regularly if the demand is there. Next time you're down there Terry, have a talk to Richard about it. They will require drilling of holes, but I think most, if not all bars would...

Ah yes ... I was wondering what the extra seat-belt mount thingy was for. Damn, you're right, it just might screw up compliance.
Don't worry Terry, I am as reluctant to punch holes in mine as much as you, but I think this time it's worth it.

i installed one of these N*power bars and found it just fitted under my soft top. it sits right where the zip is so everytime i try zip it up it feels like the zip is going to break. and its even worse with the hard top, sits right on the glass so im scared vibrations might crack the glass. :(

anyone had this problem? anyone know how to fix it?

I think that was Bigdog? (correct me if I'm wrong)
But the story I remember was that he had a BD rollbar... very different to having one of these style bars

I think the mousetrap concern is very valid... style bars have a much higher chance of mousetrapping than a rollbar because there is nothing to resist the longitudinal (read along the length of the car) forces that would cause said mouse trap... but yet again... this is merely what I think

Did you have a sticky beak in the MX5plus Torque Box rollbar GB thread Tezza?

Tezza - if you want a style bar I'm looking potentially to sell mine - and I already have my eyes on a possible replacement.

Let me know if you are even remotely interested and we can discuss a price.

Mine was made by LowMiata. Hand crafted and no hacking required.

hrmm.. mouse trap aye? the thing you have to consider when buying style bars is how often will you be driving at a point where it will cause you car to flip, therefore causing the style bar to trap you?
i can't brain today.. i have the dumb..
