Hey Guys
thought i would let you know what me and dad got up to with the electrical side of things with my mx5 today (saturday)
well i just got my wisdom teeth out so i wasnt much help to my dad just spent the day whinging in pain
bought a mirror from the USA from a 97 mustang (like mums car) with map reading lights in it.. it is wired up to the doors and also has on off switch for both lights, provides heaps more cabin lighting.. we also left part of the old mirror in the original spaceso i wasnt left with a gap in the roof as the new mirror is window mount.. came up quite good (see pic below)
also hooked up a switch in the blanking space under the footwell, this now runs my neons under the dash
in the pic below you can see the neons on obviously but you can also see some yellow lighting from the above lights (its hard to get on camera but it really does light up the cabin)
also installed a 12 volt battery plug direct from the battery to run a Waeco fridge from my dad's work (also ran a boot light neon from this as show in the second picture down) i will be replacing the blue LED in the boot with a white one
hope you like any questions please ask... oh and i almost forgot also fitted the Eunos roadster window switches with the auto window up/down function..
Cheers
Ajay

yeah it goes up under the plastic and we led the wires down the side under the dash and linked them to the other interior lights.. i love it.. probably one of the most practical things i have done
and the good thing was i wasnt left with a ugly space in the pillar i just sawed off the old mirror (from the other wrecked MX5) and kept that part in the roof... so i kept my original mirror unharmed

well..
you can see in the top pic (taken from under the mirror) that the orignal mount for the mirror is still in the roof.. the new mirror mounts to the window so i didnt want that gaping hole in the pillar.. i sawed it just where the metal attachment for the orignal mirror is.. i know this is confusing but if you still dont get it i will post pics

yes it was i direct replacement.. except i had to make the wiring longer.. still looks factory when you take it out though..
(dont know if all eunos are like this but the wiring for the switch was very short and there was NO WAY it would each the plug next to the gearstick)
and they have auto up and down for drivers side only.. makes life easier i can press the window up and then put the roof up as they are coming up!.. saves 3 seconds out of my day... i dont know what to do with myself now

The Ford Capri Club Spint came with an illuminated rear view mirror - I know coz I have one. So I checked it out on the weekend - it fits where the 5's mirror attaches - so if you got one of these ( I have a brand new boxed spare - pm if interested ) it would replace the 5's without the need for sawing or window mounting. The Capri's mirror has seperate switches to illuminate L & R side just like the one installed here.
A top idea Ajay - thanks mate - I'm onto it.

You can buy the plugs from Super Cheap. I did this and then cut the old loom off and made up an extension using the OEM plugs. Neat and factory.
