NB air vents!

Hey all,

My NB8B vents seem to dip as I hit bumps in the road! Ive heard it is possible to replace the felt or fabric that gives them enough friction to keep them up.

Anyone done it? Got any info!?

I find pushing the vents in works a treat.

My vents were pretty sloppy from new. I tried pushing the vents in for a while but even that stopped working eventually. I couldn't be bothered taking my vents out so I prised up the veletty stuff from the outside and packed it up with some electrical tape underneath. I did it about 2 1/2 years ago and it's still working fine.

Does anyone know how to get the vents out without damaging them!! I heard you can get some blue packing tape and pull them out. I thought they would have been threaded, and unscrew?! If I can get them out without damaging them, im sure you can replace the felt!

Thanks JBT,

Does that article talk about removing the actual vent (the ball) or the vent surround?? Im hoping the felt is on the other side of the vent surround!

Nope, it's to get the whole vent out. You'll have to pull it apart once you get it out. Read the thread first.

Thats a neat little tool JBT. I was always a bit concerned about tugging on the ball to remove the vent. I had the centre ones out on the NA a few times to play with my head unit but have tried to avoid removing them on the NB.

I found the credit card trick worked fine, however i didnt use pliers to yank the vent balls. Looped string in all 4 axis did the trick to pull the vent ball without damage...
