O2 Sensor on NA6

Postby corners » Wed Oct 17, 2007 11:10 am

Hi

I recently did mechanic work on my 90 roadster. (The diff had to be replaced)
we removed the exhaust which included the cat converter. I however have lost the O2 sensor. I cant see any problems with the Car, IE running rich or lean or using extra fuel. The only problem is a funny idle at cold start which clears up. Goes from 800 to 1200 rpm.

Do i need to find another O2 sensor and replace it?

Thanks

The inside of my cat is empty :)

I will have a look around for a O2 sensor.

So should I get another cat Converter and O2 sensor?

I've been told by most that you dont need a cat but might need to O2 sensor??? :?

yes get an o2 sensor. without one your car is running open loop all the time and fuel economy will be awful.

I am aware of the QLD Fines etc but am more concerned about whether i need one for the engine. I will look at getting an O2 sensor as I know the engine relies on them for its air/fuel ratio

Just curious regarding this.

The sensor I removed was the one after that cat converter. Do I need to replace this?

the one in the headers is still there untouched.

You should replace the cat...

If it's the one just after the cat - that's a temperature probe AFAIK, and doesn't affect your engine performance.

Ah ok
Sweet. Maybe just removing the Cat has made it run more rich.

Cheers
