I too was surprised at the prices for the parts.

Gary, are you able to provide a rough price for getting them installed :?:

Garry wrote:Has anyone had any experience with these? If so how much extra NVH is transmitted? I like the idea of 40% extra stiffness but I'm not real keen on a big increase in NVH. I've been reading about them on Miatanet and some people dont notice any difference while others notice a big increase in NVH and take them out.

My car has 2 broken mounts and it's booked into Mania on Wed to get some Mazdaspeed ones fitted. But I'm not sure I want them if they are going to vibrate my fillings out.

Does anyone know if they are the same as the ones used in the SE? I know it has upgraded mounts from regular MX5's but I'm not sure if they are the same as the Mazdaspeed ones.

Cheers

Edit: Just talked to Josh at Mania and they are the same mounts as used on the SE. I haven't heard of any SE drivers loosing their fillings so they should be fine. 8)

Hey Garry,

I fitted these when my supercharger was fitted (one of mine was broken as well  ). I find them good, but like you having FI probably smooths out any rough edges to some extent. The fact that they might last a bit longer as well isn't a bad thing I guess either.

Both of mine were broken at 150kkm. Main symptom was the gearbox hitting the tunnel towards the back somewhere. The car's dead smooth with the Mazdaspeed mounts in now.

From memory the Mazdaspeed (SE) mounts are actually slightly cheaper than the standard ones, so if you're going to replace them anyway the choice should be a no-brainer. :)

Well they are fitted and I love them. 8) From the very first time I drove an NB8B I hated the amount of movement in the drive line and how it was transfered to the gear lever. With the Mazdaspeed mounts the gear lever doesn't move with the torque of the engine, just like my NA used to be. The car launches much better off the line and I haven't noticed any increase in NVH. There is a little bit of buzzing between 2800 and 3000 rpm in 5th gear, but my car has always had that, The new mounts have possibly made it slightly worse but only ever so slightly if any. As Mr_Q said, it's a no brainer. I'd even consider replacing unbroken NB8B stock mounts with the heavier duty ones for the better throttle response.

It took Mania about 2 hours to fit. The exhaust side causing a little bit of grief because the turbo bits were in the way. You could do it at home but it's much easier with a hoist and an engine lift.

Some grease monkey had stipped all the threads on the studs holding the centre brace to the floor pan as well as one on the rear brace. Mania recut the threads and bolted all the braces up tight last night. With new engine mounts, a new PPF and tight braces my car feels all crisp and new again. I'm a very happy camper at the moment.

tick4d,

$100 for the parts and 2hrs labour @$80/hr so that was $260 all up. If you dont have a turbo in the way it may be a bit cheaper. They spent a bit of time fixing my mid brace as well but that should give you an idea of the cost.
