Nope.... I'm 27, past the magical age where I'm supposed to be a good driver. (I've actually never had

I think Ryde (where I live) has a pretty bad rating for some reason. I was thinking of moving to a place in frenches forest and my premium was nearly $200 less with NRMA at that stage!

I always feel like i'm getting ripped off on insurance...

That's odd. I seemed to get the impression that Shannons had a cheaper premium than Just Car... Maybe it depends on the area a lot more than I thought.

Hopefully I can settle this once and for all when I hit 25 and Shannons will actually insure me.

Oh they are cheaper for me that most other quotes i get with the same details at other places. Was about $400 cheaper than NRMA when I first got them. The sucky thing is I've never had a collision where its actually been my fault... i mean i guess this one is my fault, but I've never had a prang into someone else in my 10 years driving.

Wow ... I've always had the most expensive comprehensive quotes from Shannons ... I would never have thought them to be competitive although some pay extra for better cover / services I guess.

I would suggest getting a quote from someone else in future. I was previously with Unique Car insurance which had the best pricing a while back (50% cheaper comprehensive than Shannons) but has since been acquired by Vigil I believe.

That said, I've done too many mods to my car so I am now with Just Car Insurance on 3rd party cover only ... I just have to make sure any accident I'm involved in is not my fault ... ^_^

Shannons were the cheapest by quite a long way on the SE. However, their premiums seem to vary randomly with time. Went from $650 the first year to $420 the next, to $520 this year. And that's with my under 25 son as a nominated driver (but only when I'm passenging). They seem to have limitless capacity for special conditions on their policies.

That said, a mate recently got refused insurance with Shannons on his new Golf GTi, because he didn't meet the specifications for being an "enthusiast".

I remember hearing about that on here I think a while back. I guess it pays to be a member of the club and to have modified the car if you want to go with Shannons.

Golf Gti is not an enthusiast's choice of car :D
I bet he'll have more luck with a Mini Cooper S

yeah i think the \"enthusiast\" thing, and being a club member and doing some mods actually might help to reduce your premium with shannons. i was astounded recently when i switched to shannons and got a big reduction in my yearly premium from what it was previously with allianz. allianz thought my car was stock, but shannons know about all the mods. go figure!

If you can live with it, why not try a gentle cutting wax to get the marks off, buff it carefully with normal wax. You will still see scratches if you look close enough.
My theory is, if you are not out to impress, and can live with the scars, then why not let it sit until it's time to sell it. So at least IF something bad happens again, you don't have to fix it again.

Just my 2 cents :)

They told me it made no difference to the premium if I was a club member or not.
