Removing an NA inlet manifold

How hard is it to do this?.. i need to swap an inlet manifold over and was wondering if there are any instructions on doing this?... (and is there any chance of breaking or damaging my engine

ps: checked the miata.net forums.. couldnt find anything

your help is appreciated

It might be a good idea to get an inlet manifold gasket. You'll also need a throttle body gasket and the idle air valve dohicky gasket if you are removing them too. You should probably replace the seals for the injectors unless the new manifold has them included. If you've ever played with a mechano set as a kid you wont have any trouble, just unplug the wiring, remove the hoses remembering where they fit back on and unbolt the nuts. Replace the gaskets and do the reverse to reinstall it.

i dont have the gaskets.. best to wait until i go to mania for a service and pay them i thinks :) thanks for your help mate

If you don't put in new gaskets, you run the risk of some leakage, which will play havoc with your air-fuel metering and you'll be wondering why it runs so badly.

i have taken mine out to give it a good clean, it is not too hard, just make sure you know which pipe is coming out of where so when you are putting the new one in it would be easier:) plan it and watch for the gaskets, if you break them then there is trouble...

what was wrong with the old one?

Just detach everything, and have a 3/8\" drive ratchet with a few extensions to get at all of the nuts. I've done mine a few times, including for when I had to replace the oil pressure sender.

I didn't bother replacing the head->intake manifold gasket, but it's probably wise to do so.
