I'm 20 and insured with shannons. Their new policy on under 25 is under 23, absolutely not, unless they've been a customer in the past. 23 - 25 they will insure a sports car on limited useage only, however you must also have so sort of daily hack insured with them aswel. If ur between 23 and 25 and an existing customer ur set...kinda funny, since i could cancel the insurance on my cars, then come back when i'm 24 and be fine

Well, lucky me. The guy from Just Car came around to do the assessment today, and he picked Hume Smash over the other place to do my repairs. Turns out the other place didn't notice the cracked plastic that holds the headlights to the car frame, so going with them would've left me with unrepaired damage etc.

Hurray for Hume Smash knowing what they're doing. I didn't even notice the headlight plastic was busted til Dennis from Hume Smash pointed it out.

Now to call them on Monday and book a time in for repairs. At least I get a new bonnet respray out of it too (or so I hope). There's a few chips in there that need fixing :P

another thing about shannons... my insurance with them is about $350 cheaper per annum than it was previously with Allianz, plus i have agreed value (15K) and shannons know about all the mods. seems kinda whacky to me, i woulda thought shannons would be more expensive! but, i guess Allianz were just just a rip off!

Expensive, overmarketed, with a lowest bidder preferred repairer system... IMHO

Oh you're talking about the NRMA insurance, rather than NRMA roadside assistance, correct?

Fair enough then.

Oh? What's wrong with the NRMA?

Well for starters every year my agreed value was reduced and my premium was increased. But the main reason was when they changed their policy and wouldn't let me choose my own repairer. It's my car and I have to live with the repair so I think I should have some say in who works on my car.

Before switching to Shannons I called NRMA for them to give me a reason to stay with them seeing as I'd been with them for nearly 25 years and was very happy with the way they had handled my claims over the years. They advised me to read through the Shannons policy carefully and to switch to Shannons if I was happy with the policy. So I did. Shannons premium was slightly more expensive than NRMA but they also covered more so in the end it was better value for money. In the last 2 years the premium has dropped so I'm paying almost $200 less with Shannons now than I was paying with the NRMA. I haven't had to make a claim on my car insurance so I cant comment on their claims performance. I recently made a claim on my contents insurance though (also with Shannons) and I have to say that I wasn't particulary impressed with their service. They seemed to be geared up for car insurance and their home insurance is just a bit tacked on out in the back shed.

After the experience my son suffered getting his Mazda 3 repaired through NRMA, I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

I've always found Shannons bloody brilliant.
