EGR pipe with custom headers

Postby AB7 » Fri Oct 05, 2007 12:18 pm

Hi Guys,

Anyone here with aftermarket headers on their NB?
What did you guys do with the EGR pipe?...I search the forum and found some of you had issue fitting them in.

Did anyone had their EGR pipe blocked all together?

I connected mine up, I just didn't connect that little bracket behind the engine back up. Firgured it would put stress on the header and maybe split it over time.

Andrew has completely blocked his from the intake side of the engine. I'll try and find the photo.

My Japanese engine came with a plate blanking out the ERG.

I kept the ERG valve thingo connected up in case the ECU noticed it was missing.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Will blocking up the EGR pipe cause any issue? Apart from the cars emission will be worse...

mines been off for quiet some time and it really dosnt seem to of made any difference... no extra smoke or anything like that.
the pipe only connects to one chambers exhaust port so unless some how they have made a motor that sends all its bad gass out one pipe and the other three are fine i cant see how it would make huge differences to emissions..

however im no engineer and i sure as hell havent put the money or the thought into that mazda did when they were developing the motor.. so its there for a reason.. but then again theres also a restrictive air box and exhaust system... also there for a reason... but i really arnt worried about those reasons 8) :P

*touch wood no cops have ever really cared/looked* but then again i havent been pulled over.. well atleast for anything silly
