Euro/Lexus Style Clear Tail lights for NB series

Postby nyet99 » Sun Sep 30, 2007 8:54 pm

Has anyone out there installed Euro/Lexus Style Clear Tail lights on their NB series MX5. I've seen them on NA's but not NB's. Also, no-one in Australia seems to sell them for NB's. MX5Mania certainly don't show them on their Web site. I can get them from the UK from MX5Mad....

...but I am not sure if they are legal here. Also I was hoping to be able to get them locally, if possible.

Can anyone advise? Thx

autojoy can bring them in for you, there is a store located in parramatta and narellen, i think they want somewhere between $160 - 200 for them (dont quote me on that)

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I have the black tail lights on my SP, and I think they are legal as the indicators are orange, and not red, and the reversing lights work too.
There is a red section on the right hand side light which is really for a rear fog light, which is not fitted to Aus delivered cars.

I think they look good.

^^^
Seems a bit of a waste of money for that rear bar. Doesn't have any major styling cues except for a slight lip. All to move the number plate below the light line...

Yeah, the rear bar is quite ugly IMHO.
Nice wheels tho...you notice that a lot of Euro MX5 have these type of wheels. 3 piece, deep lip and 16\" fat tyres.

I wonder if they used the original bar and just tried to extend the line from the bits that existed next to the lights and ended up with that. I'm really surprised that it looks so strange considering the rest of the bar looks factory (for the most part). Perhaps they need to take into account the bootlid a little more when deciding which lines to use.
