If your after a head unit they will look standard in the MX5, and have alot of features go for a Nakamichi. They are quite expensive, and hard to get hold of :? , but they look great. I have been after a Nakamichi CD500 for a while, there are 9 different colour combinations you can set, its plays mp3's, and has a 24 bit d/a converter.

The Naka's don't sound half bad either :D

I've got one of these. It accepts a USB stick right in the front.
I love it, I love it, I love it.

Wow! some hot head units there guys.

Ryan's got my pick! Yum, I'd go for that too man, except they seem a bit expensive for me. I love the look, but as I'm not really going to have a huge sound system think it'd be wasted money.

I found a couple of Kenwoods I like though. The first looks better (more green!) and is a fair bit cheaper, but the second has USB capability which would be very handy.

Oh decisions!

USB will be good...

At the time I bought mine, since it was so cheap I didn't put that much thought into USB input (just CD MP3)
A few months on, I kind of regret not plumping for USB input... that being said, my taste in music is very temperamental

btw Heres mine, (look familiar? ) I bought it for the exact reason that it was the closest fit to the MX5 interior

Although if you have the effort, have a look for some of the older clarion ones... they were my first choice, but were discontinued before I decided to part with my munnies (sorry... can't remember what model number as yet... I'll see if I can dig it up)

update: found it - the Clarion DB265MP

I am hoping this will fit into an NB8B. Made by Fujitsu with a Tomtom portable, has CD, AM/FM, USB and Bluetooth. iPod is optional.

 That thing is nuts, but oh such a good idea.

I'd consider getting one if I was in the market for a new stereo.

You mean an aux in? Is this via RCAs at the back of the deck, or via a 3.5/2.5mm jack in the front of the deck?

My mate has a fairly high end Pioneer deck (albeit from like a year ago) which doesn't have auxiliary RCA inputs.

Pete - That will fit, however getting a double DIN stereo to fit my SE was a pain in the rear, as the standard stereo is slightly bigger than double DIN

GMTA mate!!

I went ahead and ordered the USB model. I'm looking forward to not listening to the radio anymore :D - will it fit in with my existing storage pocket or will I have to order something like this?

Yeah, that's similar to the one my mate has, although of course he's got the almost top of the line one so the faceplate hides the CD slot. I didn't think it had RCA inputs. It was only an aux in through the 2.5mm jack on the faceplate itself.

Yeah, you'll need to buy the single DIN cubby to fill up the space a standard DIN unit will leave. Or you can do what I did... Araldite a sheet of plastic to the top of the original cubby...
