I've seen the dyno result.
Didn't you start selling off all your development parts after that, and settle for a setup that was a bit more \"linear\"?

This is really good info, would be very interested in the actual list of parts ( save me removing first!) A question on the studs - did you replace the studs @ the head to manifold joint as well as the manifold to turbo joint? or just rework the manifold @ the head joint to give more effective thread? The detail dimensions of the replacement studs would be really helpful. thanks for the info so far it will save lots of potential frustration!!

CT, I sourced a supply of 8x1.25 inconel studs for Daniel/ Mania from a bolt supplier in Penrith (Spinners); however they couldn't supply inconel nuts (doesn't sound like they are too common?). They did supply some deformed nuts that have been brilliant on my turbo housing have not lost one yet (originals were just temporary residents - regularly heard them bouncing under the car...).

I had some troubles with studs falling out in the manifold to turbo juncture on my AVO setup. A set of inconel studs and deformed nuts (both from Tyrone - Drift Fury) fixed the problem right up.

I reckon I could do with a set of those Inconel studs. Whats the best way to contact Tyrone?
Also Sean, did you run a gasket between the turbo and the manifold. I haven't been after a couple of failures.

Ive just been given my SP back from mazda yesterday afternoon. I was hearing some metal on metal grind when i loaded the engine... thankfully mine turned out to be a similar problem... well... partially...

The bolts on the exhaust man where loose... the exhaust connection to the turbo was loose... and the heat shield ive got was griding up against the wastegate.

When spy has done a few k's on these new bolts ill be keen to see how its going and potentially get a set myself...

What exactly is an inconel stud?

When doing my turbo manifold, I just used what seemed to be \"ordinary\" high tensile studs.

Inconel is a particular material known for high heat tolerance. It may expand/contract/stretch less than regular high tensile materials - not really sure but it gets mentioned a lot around high heat sources. Hopefully Tyrone will chime in.......

I believe they are a fancy alloy used in the space shuttle, so should be good for SP's :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Tyrone is MX5_Drift_Furey on these forum, try PMing him, he is a fairly busy guy though so it may take a while for him to get back to you.

I used to run a genuine garrett gasket, but blew 3 of them out. Got tha manifold and turbo machined flat (just to be safe) and re assembled with no gasket, never had a problem since.
