Remote Central locking problem?

Postby AB7 » Wed Sep 05, 2007 11:33 am

Hi guys,

I was trying to lock my car (NB8B) with the remote this morning, the light flashes as usual but it won't lock. It doesnt even make any sounds.

When I tried using the key to lock it, it also won't lock both doors.

Any clue???
Cheers.

First, check the fuse, then if that is OK, you will have to pull the the inside cover off the driver's door and check the wiring etc.
I think the central locking works off the driver's door, so that is probably where the problem is if it's refusing to work and the fuse is OK.

NAs have a well known problem of a spring failing within the locking mechanism in the door. Usually means that the door will lock but be almost impossible to unlock but can happen the other way too. Been meaning to fix it for years. Quickest fix is to replace the lock.

same here, try jiggle the wiring nearest the accelerator pedal under the dash and see waht happens...

my problem is definately connected to this area of wiring as when i jiggle it my doors lock or unlock on me, or the immobiliser or alarm kicks in...

pain. in. arse.[/quote]

I had a central locking fuse blow under the dash when I was wiring up the boot release.

Remove the plastic panel below the steering wheel (2 philips head screws)

Look at the fuse holders along the wires near the steering column, you've probably blown one of these.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
