Upgraded brakes for NA6

Just a simple question, besides the NA8 brakes (or maybe NB8), what other brakes out there can a NA6 upgrade to? I ask this question is because NA8 brakes are hard to come by and when they are available the prices are jacked up high.

I was wondering if there were other brake kits around that can retrofit the NA6 for cheap.

you could always just upgrade the na6 rotors and pads. i got dba slotteds and bendix pads. stops better now. i've only done the front. i'm going to put na8 brakes on the back, but really the fronts do most of the work so i'm not sure if i'll see much more improvement.

As Fatty suggests, often just upgrading the pads is a big difference. Tyres would be the next thing to look at (since they're what actually stop the car).

Are you having brake problems, or just getting ideas?

If you are talking about options for the track; NA8 brakes are the cheapest upgrade. NB8A are the same (I think) but NB8B are bigger again.

Anything other than this will require brackets or a deep pocket (Wilwood Big Brake kit starts at $2k IIRC).

Upgrade pads if it's just for track days; if it's for a track car then I'd go for the NB8B kit for ~$850.

Im looking at FC/FD RX7 brakes, theres a kit in japan..

Well I already have Hawk HP+ pads and recently machines my rotors as well as a full flush. It survived a track day with semi slicks, but I want just more bite! It's fine on the street but on track, never is enough

I've thought about getting slotted rotors for the NA6 calipers, but I'm not sure if they are worth it. If I'm spending close to $400-500 for a set of 4 rotors, I'm almost half way there for a full set of NA8 disc and caliper, which would do much more.

I guess I'm just trying to find cheaper alternatives to the NA8/NA8 brakes. $800 isn't too bad I guess, but if there is a cheaper kit somewhere, I would really like to know!

With good pads, a master cylinder brace and some braided lines, you'll have a pretty good setup.

Getting more bias to the rear of an NA6 definitely helps. You can use an aftermarket adjustable valve (Wilwood/Tilton) with the correct adaptors, or you can retrofit an NB valve (~$250) quite easily.

Stops the MC moving as a result of firewall flex.

We have just done a Skyline R32 4 spot conversion on one of our SE's. We weren't sure of the effect they would have with the ABS and only ran Bendix Advance pads front and rear but were very impressed with them. Now we will step up and put decent race pads in them for the next event. Also hope to have our second SE upgraded to them as well.

The Skyline caliper is all alloy and quite cheap to get hold of. Additionally there are numerous types of pads available for it. The RX7 caliper was an option but generally they are to expensive to obtain in any great number.

We are looking at the viability of making them available as a kit however they will only be suitable for race cars as this sort of mods on road registered cars can open up all sorts of bureaucratic head scratching......
