yes.. what a morning..
wakeup after a nice little sleep in and start contemplating to get my self to wakefield and watch.. then the phone rings oh hello helmun... whats that.. i am entered.... i am on the lineup??? i'll be right there!! then i realise i still have my street tyres on fastest wheel change and trip to gobo ive ever done
apart from my late start it turned out to be another great day at the track, some people that have been hiding showed up and much fun was had by all..
CB won our class again but still didnt quiet crack the 1.12s.. as far as i know anyway with a slightly better track condition i dont think he'd have any problems.
i thought i had the car sorted but i still managed to come off atleast 3 times if i had of known i was competing i would of got a wheel alignment last week and adjusted that sway bar but it was good none the less to get our there and just work on braking and my lines. thanks again to the MX5 club officials.. ran back to back events perfectly

i think chriss gough had the fastest lap on the normal circuit of 1.09.?? in his SE
in mod <2L it was phil ashton 1.13.?? then myself 1.14.2? then matty G 1.15.??... thats about all i can remember will have to wait till latter in the week when they put up the times..
in the afternoon i do remember mine and phil's times (as he's the one i'm chasing.. and getting left in the dust ) which were 1.17.00 and 1.17.92 on the modified course.. the extra elbow after turn 2 on the first straight leading to the uphill sectoin.

I think Chris got into the 1.08's or 1.07
I know I was 4th or 5th fastest on the day

Great times Russ. The little beast is sure flying.
I had a mixed day. Track was so bloody cold to start with that I couldn't get any heat in the tyres. They only came up 2 - 3 psi after 5 laps and two offs on the first run. Second run I got a bit more temperature and then decided to top them up another 2 psi for the third run. This was good to set down a time the same as my previous best, 1:13.18, but disappointing that I couldn't break that 1:12 barrier. The harder I tried the slower I went. Oh well, next time.
I was happy that I stayed just in front of Andrew; he gets a little to close for comfort sometimes.
Hellmun’s NB is a little beauty. When it gets dialled into its optimum settings it will be a quick car. It rides very well and has plenty of corner grip. Shouldn’t be too long before it does 1:15s and hopefully 1:14s.
Andrew & Matts times were up to their normal standard. Matt stopped early with the canvas showing on his tyres.
A big thanks to all the officials standing around in the cold windy conditions. Great job.

Disappointed to have had to pack up early yesterday, but wasn't going to risk running on canvas. Car clearly needs to have more negative camber on the passenger side for Wakefield Park or Driver clearly needs to drive more appropriately to prevent such wear.
Tyres lasted 7 events, or effectively 14 for those people who don't run a dual entered car.
Cracked a 1:15:32 at the Supersprint, a new PB by 0.05 secs and then in the second run yesterday (could have been 3rd) I had done 3 laps under that time. Now down to a PB of 1:15:22. I would have liked to continue with the original track configuration for the afternoon, because I KNOW a 1:14 is in Lara and I. As it turned out, maybe the tyres wouldn't have let us get there.
Mind you, that deviation in the alternate circuit is a LOT of fun. I LOVE overtaking SEs!
Dad had a great run too and had a PB of 1:16:33. He will be in the 1:15s in November so long as it doesn't get too hot!.
Another fantastically well run event yesterday and as I said to most people on Sunday and Monday, the MX5 Club - run Supersprint on Sunday was the best run event on the Supersprint Championship Calendar. BY FAR, HANDS DOWN. So thanks to all the officials, flaggies, time recording people for an awesome weekend of motorsport.

Timing done by RTM Lap Timing Software, so not on Natsoft.
Don't have the Supersprint results with me here, but will advise later.
MX5 Club Track Day details should be posted in the next day or so.

Fanta had a great weekend running with Carco team.
Now running as a normally aspirated Reliance Automotive 1600 with good head, Tighe cams, extractors and controlled by Autronic SMC. It is putting out around 94 rwk using a standard inlet manifold and felt strong all day. (A set of quads will finish it off nicely).
John (my son) managed a 1.10.6 on Sunday on semi-slicks to take a class win and new Type 4 0-1600 class record at the state supersprint - which I though was pretty good (proud father syndrome). As usual I lagged well behind and put my ego back into my kit bag.
I managed to get down to 1.11.5 on Monday, so I have got a long way to improve - can't even blame the extra 20 kilos I carry.
I managed a 1.15.8 on the extended circuit, which was around 4th, so was very happy with that.
Thanks to all the organisers for yet another excellent two events.
After a year of mechanical ills with the turbo motor in Fanta, it was great to have two trouble free days with the normally aspirated 1600 and to be able to drive the wheels off Fanta, and to be not that far off the turbo times anyway. We both had an absolute ball.

Mactype wrote:As nothings up on Natsoft at present, what times are the front runners with standard engined NA/NB's running at Wakefield?
Stock standard everything records are:
NA 1.6 - 1:18.44 David Radditz
NA 1.8 / NB - 1:16.79 Ian Vickers (NB)
NC - 1:15.94 Julian Flintoff
Generally front runners are within a second of these times.
If you are talking about standard engine but with modified suspension then I can only refer you to mine in the NC and that doesn't help you.

So what ever happened to the track days where Craig and Bevan turned up?
Have they turned into old granny drivers who only take their cars out on Sundays (and not Mondays). But then again, I suppose it must be too hurtful for Craig to see the difference in times that can be done in an NA and a Camel.
