This is the VE table tat comes with the mspnp 90-93, as you can see it goes up to 230kpa, well over 15psi, I assume you could use this as a base for tuning a turbo mx?

I'll give PITS at Molendinar a call and see if he's used MegaTune before or is willing to give it a try. If so then a MSPNP for a 94 might be a goer for me.

A mate of mine took his MS injected car to the local dyno and the operator raved about how easy it was to tune...

Commom problem with tuning - I feel for you Rob.

Is it worth posting here to help others avoid making the same mistake?

Most competant tuners can get good resuls from anything, but I'd prefer to go to someone who spacialises in my chosen ECU (no matter what ECU that is). That way you are more liekly to get full use of all available functions on the ECU.

I've heard people complain about the cost of going to certain reputable tuners, but really, is an extra few hundred dollars saved in tuning really worth it? A good tune will probably save you the few hundred dollars in fuel bill over a short period of time.

It's also a nice bit ofinsurance for all the money you've spent on building up the car and engine. No good savng a few hundred dollars if it's going to cost you an engine and retune later.

I'd be looking to someone who has runs on the board, and lots of happy (tuning) customers - Having a wideband and or dyno doesn't make you an effective tuner. There are more than a few memeers here who have kissed engines goodbye in the hand of so called "experienced" tuners.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.

Sean, i agree 100% with your comments.

In short i would say find a tuner that you are 100% happy with and follow their ECU suggestions. In a nutshell, familiararity with the ECU is much more important that familiararity with the MX5.

Just thought I would put up a brief update, I have the MSPNP in and working. It seems to be working quite well, I have got a bit of a tune on it just by doing logs and letting the logviewer make corrections to the target air fuel ratio.

The car is just as drivable as before and I LOVE the launch control :D

Next thing to do is fit some sort of air filter as the origional piping doesn't match up to the nb inlet manifold I fitted to gain a variable tps, which I also want to connect up in the future.

As a note, I can not speak highly enough of diyautotune for they're service and advice. I ordered the wideband one weekend and it arrived only a week later on the monday.

Tim
