I agree with you 100%. Unless you're swapping pads for the track, the HP+ is the wrong pad. I didn't drive the car enough to justify swapping the pads.

Gday CT cant agree more with the customer service from the boys at FM(and the ladies) I called them on a tuesday morning our time ordered a set of rods and pistons and they where expressed to my door in under 24hrs NOW THAT's SERVICE

Has anybody found an after market source for the anti rattle clips on the NB8B


Garry, the Hawk HP come with clips from Mania?
If thats any help.

$6.50 US per corner. They have a nice exploded diagram of the brake assembly so it makes buying the right bits easy. Our cars are equivalent to the US hard suspension model

Cool Caffeine, I can see the fronts listed but no rears. Am I blind or are they hidden away there somewhere?

They are there, they are the same part for the standard suspension, so it doesn't list a hard suspension version.

I have a set somewhere between here and the US, I'll let you know how they go when I get them finally!

Just got a price of $440/front set for the Ferodo DS2500 :shock:

Anyone tried/heard of Mintex Xtreme? $300/front set sounds a lil' more reasonable but I can't find too much info on 'em.

Anyone keen on a group buy for Hawk HPS? These are supposed to be a more road-friendly/rotor-friendly version of HP+.
I have written to a few suppliers in the US, the best I have gotten was (USD) $98 for Front AND Rear plus $50 shipping. That equates to approx $165.00 AUD for a full set.
I have an NA8 but prices for NB's are only a few dollars difference.

I've scoured numerous US Miata forums and they have had pretty good referrals .....

I'm not really putting my hand up to organise this, just wanted to put my 2cents in to give options, but I would happily get the ball rolling by contacting the supplier.

The sports upgrade package on NB8B's barely fits in a few 15' rims(it plain won't fit in RPF-1's and a few other 15's). I think I have about 2mm clearance on my track 15' rims. I don't think you'd be able to get those calipers under a normal 14' rim.

Personally I'm thinking about putting ultimates in as a street pad with my standard rotors. Then getting a set of DBA4000's and DS3000/ Hawk blues for the track on the front. Can't lock the semi's when hot atm...so think I can push for a little more brake friction.

The NB8B brakes are a massive 40mm bigger than the NA6 brakes and as pointed out above some 15's wont fit over it. If you upgrade to the NA8 brakes though you should be right. To upgrade to the NA8 you need brackets, rotors and pads?, although it should be noted that the NA8 caliper is a little larger although you can continue to use the NA6 calipers if you prefer. Jumping up to the NB8B brakes you will need the above and judging by the size diference in the calipers you will probably need to do them as well. The NB8B brakes are one of the best mods I have done. The difference in braking is enormous.

Jumping back on topic I decided to go with EBC Red stuff pads on the front and EBC Greens stuff pads on the back. Just finished breaking them in so I will keep it updated as to how they go. Ended up costing me about $400 all up.
