Glue for meter rings

I am going to fit the extra 3 meter rings in the dash panel, Just wanting to know what would be the best glue to use. The rings are chrome metal & I assume the dash panel is plastic.

I used 5-minute araldite, applied with a toothpick onto the groove around the meter opening, then carefully dropped the ring in from inside.

Superglue can cause the clear plastic to fog up.

I did use super glue with no dramas, using the same method. Araldite is probably a better bet though. Mine have been in for over 4 years now, and I love them.

It's a subtle addition that manages to make a huge improvement.

The most important thing is to take your time getting the plastic cover off, and applying the glue.

These are my instrument rings and chrome needle caps:

I'm not too sure about those needle caps, though, a bit too \"blingy\"... they might be coming off soon...

Overall though, it complements the whole satin/chrome look:

I was soo about to buy a Nardi Classic the other day, but I opted for the Momo Prototipo. The Nardi looks nice Gazbo..

I cant wait to get mine.. :mrgreen:

I couldn't find anyone selling the Prototipo in silver, agree it's a very nice wheel too. At least it should fit the standard Momo boss, unlike the Nardi...

Where did you pick up the cool little torch in your cig lighter?
Also, that Voodoo handbrake grip would look very cool with a chrome button from a Titanium NB. I also agree with you about the needle covers, perhaps a bit \"blingy\"

Actually I have a Nardi boss on there now, so I have to source a Momo boss.

I got the wheel off eBay from usa, was $260aus all up posted. Alot better than the $400 I was quoted here in Aus.

As for the glue, why dont you try salastic. It will be alot easier to remove if you ever want to go back to standard.

Just get the little torch from Kmart - Eveready brand.

Silastic is a good idea (removable). Else 5 minute araldite is the go.

Thanks to all of you for the advice, Gazbo thanks for the photos, you have a few things done to your interior I have been thinking about doing myself, so its good to see what it will look like. Now I can't wait to fit the rings in but I will have to wait because I need a new meter hood, the old one fell apart in my hands 3 weeks ago when changing a blown globe in the dash :evil:

, so I patched it up as good as I could & decided I would add the chrome rings. I have a new meter hood coming from Mania. It is cheaper to buy one through them & get it shipped to Melbourne than buying one from Mazda.

Jules, I've since purchased a satin handbrake button from MX5Parts.co.uk that matches the grip perfectly. Maybe a chrome button would have looked better though, since I had to fit chrome interior door handles (couldn't find satin ones)

The satin trim is much harder to find than chrome :cry:

Selleys sell this Araldite these days that dries quick but also dries ompletely clear. Works like a charm on the meter rings. I found it by accident at a small hardware store so the larger chains will have it no probs..
