I'm also very interested in this as well
in my case the differences between the SE and NB8A, I am looking at buying SE parts to turbo my 5, depending on how much it will cost I might look at trading up to an SE.
either way I still have to wait another year before I can legally drive a turbo

Taking a quote from another thread...
\"Just go and buy a SE boofheads\"
When you look at the cost of doing the modifications to a stock car it works out cheaper and easier to sell your car and buy an SE...or an SP.
If not just for the time, money and effort...as well as having a car that can be legally registered and insured with no problem.

Or buy a car already modded, like Mossy's NA. That is a beast!

I believe there are hardened 2nd to 4th gears on the SE gearbox. Torsen LSD, firmer suspension, Clutch, tuned ECU, lower compression pistons, NB8A head instead of the NB8B SVT...all I can think of off the top of my head.
Unless you enjoy modifying cars and going the time expensive DIY route...get the SE. The SP turbo though was sorta an NB8B with a turbo kit...not aware of it having any of the parts I just listed for the SE.

Allow a budget of about 10k for going turbo, simply because if you try to do things on the cheap, you're gonna screw up somewhere. Its so much easier just upgrading to an SE and modifying it

steering rack is quicker
*cough* not quite. It has less lock so that the wider wheels dont rub the guards. I've never heard of it having a quicker ratio.
According to Keith Tanner from Flying Miata the radiator is the same size as stock but the fans have slightly different shrouding.

The SE radiators I have seen (fitted to SP replicas ironically - a cheap good performance radiator) are thicker then the stock NB8B radiator. Still a good bit thinner compared to the SP radiator though.
