My own fault, should have entered STM's number into my mobile when it was given to me. Then I would have known a lot earlier instead of circling up and down (including Level 7, GRRRRRRR) the carpark trying to find people.
Thanks for the SMS' John and Bevan. By the time we worked out where we needed to be we found Kelvin on his way back from Auburn dropping a friend off to get his car and we knew the meet must have been over.
Photos are awesome, must say (despite my blue tendencies) that the garnet red NA looks fantastic!
By the sounds of it, everyone had a great night!

We should have waited for the cops, then it would have made the security gaurds feel like idiots, because the cops wouldn't have done anything against us, if they decided to turn up at all.
As it's a public road, as ANY other venue is that is open to cars entering and leaving, even though it might be privately owned, they couldn't have done a thing to us anyway, but I wasn't going to argue with a bogan as he wouldn't have stood a chance.
As some people there had actually bought things at the shopping centre, there was no way ANY cop would or could throw us out - unless he wanted to look a real dill to his boss for enforcing a law that didn't exist.
Big thanks to Babalouie too as he managed to fix my headlight!
Even though the new bulbs I had wouldn't fit, he somehow managed to get it working just fine.

I had a chat with someone I know in the centre management there today and he mentioned to me that the organiser of this event was told that they weren't welcome there a couple of weeks before the event, but he just went ahead with it anyway.
He told me that they have issues with public liability insurance for events such as this, and they would prefer to not have the cars there rather than risk a problem that might occur.
Also, he reckons were were taking up some of the best parking areas near the travelators and that management didn't want large groups of cars taking up valuable parking spots.
We talked for a while about the marketing issues related to throwing so many, well-behaved people out, especially when many of them were shoppers there and many of the guys bought food and drinks while they were there, so it was not only morally wrong to turf them out, but that this sort of practise will direct those people to another shopping centre.
To cut a long story short, he is aware that we were well mannered and didn't cause any trouble, and I pointed out the fact that while some of these guys were indeed regular shoppers there (as I am) the rest of them could be permanently turned off ever going there again, but by allowing them to gather there that they may get some converts to their shopping centre, and with business being as tough as it is right now - they need every shopper they can get.
I also suggested that perhaps one of the food shops might like to come down with a cart and sell food and drinks to the guys and gals there.
I told him that if the group were loud and causing trouble that I would be the first one to leave, but everyone was well mannered and indeed, they caused less tyre squeel than most of the shoppers.
He said to me that he will talk to the powers that be, and that perhaps they can give us a special area to hold these gatherings in the future, so there may be a chance to hold the meeting there form now on, with the full support of the management.
I'll keep you posted with any further developments.

Hey Benny, Justin here (I owned and defaced your old Clubman!). Definitely some confusion there Benny as I am the organiser/founder of JDM Style Tuning (JDMST) and in no way at all did I ever speak to centre management. Apparently the MR2 club did though but I have nothing to do with them.

yeah i shop there, and brought along two friends that night. we were all planning to have dinner there.
what made things worse was that subway at auburn was closed by the time we got there, so we had to have maccas for dinner...

Neither the JDM or the MR2 clubs were mentioned to me at all, nor was your name mentioned Justin.
He mentioned something about TTNam or something like that.
Unfortunately, when he rang me back, I was on the toilet so I couldn't take any notes (unless I wanted a really smelly finger afterwards).
Hopefully, something good may come out of this.

Just popped over to JDMstyletuning.com and it looks like the September meet is currently being organised. No date or location set yet, but it should be the long weekend!
