No, those are bolts. They use the same holes that Mazda butchered into the front bar...

The factory number plate mount is fugly, this is a much better way of getting the job done. Even if AJ doesn't agree.  :P

I know what he means. There's that circuler swirl in the bumper. Is that from the original bracket?

That new bracket looks sooooo good! Nice one JBT! :D

The bracket is attached with PK screws at the bottom (same as the cr@p bracket supplied by Mazda) and by peeled back rivets (rather than cr@p mushroom rivets as supplied by Mazda) using the original holes in the bar.

The circular mark (didn't see that except in the photo  ) is from the abomination fitted to the car by Mazda as shown in the photos below.

Not bitter, just astounded that Mazda Australia would allow a 45 cent cr@p bracket to be fitted to the front of a $45,000 car. I think it's abysmal. Even worse is that dealers allow them to go out like that.

They come that way from Japan, not Mazda Oz's doing, but yeh it's pretty dumb that all the other models bolt on AOK and the MX-5's look crap. Re the dealers letting them out that way it's not really our job to tidy up Mazda HQ's phuck ups. Sure it'd be nice but if we scratched it or damaged the bumper removing it, the new owners wouldn't be happy campers.
