Okay, splashed out on a set of H&R spacers:
5mm, with a hubcentric mounting that fits the 54.1mm MX5 hub, and comes with longer studs. All TUV-approved. US$125 incl delivery.
Just gotta wait for them to arrive then I can drive the car
Gotta love that...

7's with a +12 offset, thats going to look freaking awesome, even without the 5mm spacers. Hope you've got really well rolled guards though!
I'm thinking about hiring a guard roller for a day and rolling and pumping mine as much as I can before the car get painted so that I can run 20mm boltons with my 14x6.5 +14.5 Watanabes, though I think making them effectively -5's might not be a good idea lol. Thinking about it though, thats still not as out there as those 15x8 +0 ebay jobbies I've been thinking about, and the yanks seem to fit them ok
White Clubmans with low offsets FTW!

Looking good Kevin...needs to be a bit lower I reckon...great to see people doing different stuff with their MX5s.
I just ordered a set of these for the Green machine which is going to be very different.

15 x 8 +4...should be interesting...guards are pumped already and it will have about -5deg. camber so should fit ok.

Yeah we should be fine I think. The old wheels were 15x6.5+14 with a 3mm spacer and 195/50-15s. The new wheels are 14x7+12 with a 5mm spacer, so the new wheels stick out 10mm more, but the tyre is a lot narrower (185/60-14) so the shoulder of the tyre actually tucks into the guard quite nicely. And yes the guards are all rolled
As for a guard roller, apparently they are not too expensive on Ebay so it's one of those things I've thought of buying from time to time. I think it'll be used for years by all your mates too.

Fyi guys Mania have a guard roller.
I am really at a cross roads now whether to go with a blingin JDM big lip wheel (Perhaps Speed Star MK III or SSR Professor) or a JDM racer type wheel... Im really starting to like to look of Volk racing RE30 and CE28Ns in 15x7 +28.......and the IRF Enkei RPF1 in 14x7 +19.5 is really a sick wheel too....decisions decisions

hey Babalouie,
nice wheels i like the ssr that are completely dished, old jap styles
but with those spacers u got, can you u get just a spacer to fill the middle where the wheel slots into the hub?
something like this

Probably can...but if there is an off the shelf solution from H&R, then I'll got for that. It'll look nicer and be less dodgy

deez wrote:Babs and guys here...any ideas for conventional shock/spring suspension setups, is it possible to run offsets in the +10 to +15 range in a 15x7 size, without scrubbing against the struts?
There's tons of room on the inside, so a 7in wheel in a +10 offset would mainly have issues at the wheelarch. Rolling the lip is necessary, and depending on your size of tyre it probably won't scrape in hard driving.
I ran a 15x6.5in wheel wth +11 offset and 195/50-15 tyres (which are quite square shouldered) and it didn't scrape, even on full opposite lock. With the SSRs they are 7in (and after the 5mm spacer) will end up at a +7 offset but I'm using a narrow 185/60 tyre so it's more or less the same as before (in terms of the clearance from tyre shoulder to wheelarch).
7in with 0 offset I think would probably work in a 14in (after all it only sticks out 7mm more than my SSRs) but in 15 or 16in you have more square-shouldered tyres and so I think you'll have wheelarch issues.
As for shock/spring setups the King Spring/Koni shock combo is a well proven setup for many on this forum, and the premium-branded coilover kits like Tein and Bilstein PSS9 are also well proven for us too.

What about 0 offset?
You'll be so far from the strut its not funny. You'll need to roll the guards though
