it can be done at home. having a pit in the garage floor at home is a huge help.
make sure you remove ATLEAST your headers and mid pipe.
a torque wrench that displays ft-lb if you use the above mentioned book.
TORCH with plenty of batteries!!!!!
lots of extensions cos i could have done with more at times, but got away with 1 short and 1 long joined together.
long breaker bar or tube that will fit over your ratchet for the extra leverage.
REPLACE EVERY THING that wears in that general area, e.g the bearing that is on the gear box shaft that goes into the motor, cos you wont want to do it all again in the near future if it goes.
if you have kids or a mrs (parents in my case), ear plugs for them may also be needed. why you may ask, well when you bash your knuckles cos your hand slipped off that spanner or you cannot remove your hand from that tight spot you just forced it into, there will be some expressions of frustration in the form of shouting 4 letter words etc. i know this cos i bashed my knuckles , got my hand stuck many times and more.

but dont let that put you off, its a great feeling of acomplishment when you take it for its first run after surgery.

have fun
