22l is a bit small for that sub. I've used the specs of that sub and punched them into the trusty box builder program and it comes out with 72l for vented (green) and 32l for sealed (yellow). Changing the vented box size shows you what the response plot will be (pink). Not disastrous but the vent length needs to be over 1m long to tune it down to 30hz.

Grab yourself a few sheets of this an add them to the boot lid. It will make a big difference to the sound quality.

what was the diameter for the port u calculated?? this was a limiting factor for me because of available length so the port is just over 2\" diameter, I know I might have problems at high volumes with such a small port but i'll wait and see

ok well I've done a bit more on it now, nearly finished

Bogged it up using Q-cel mixed with the resin

Sanded back

bogged again and sanded back again then painted

Hopefully I will get the amp mounts done this week, tried last week but the aluminium I was trying to use kept on breaking as it was bent so i'm going to try stainless steel.
Just trying to get it finished before the mania dyno day

Oh nice. It'll be good to see this in the flesh.

Looking great, thanks for sharing with us.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I'm going to use that high friction mat stuff, similar to those pads people use to stop their mobile phones sliding all over the dash, originally I was going to use the velcro but the fit is too close to fit velcro in, i'm not too worried, it's a very snug fit and it's not as though it would fly into the cabin in an accident, i'll see how it turns out

I'm using that stuff under my sub box in the boot. It doesn't move except for up and down if I go over speed bumps too quickly :P

Well, after seeing the install today in the flesh, it definitely looks the goods. SM, you've definitely inspired me to try this out for myself. Especially since it was a DIYer on your part as well.

Once I get the 6x9's mounted into the cabin, the fibreglassing mission is next. Expect lots of PMs with questions about how to do crap :P

The biggest problem (as always) with that theory is that it's very dependent on hangovers :P

I saw it in the flesh at the dyno day. Very nice work SM. Pity I need to fit the groceries in my boot :(

It's been a while but I finally got around to taking some pics, not quite finished, still need to cover the false floor but at least it works
Image

surprisingly there is no annoying rattles unless it's really cranked up, and it really fills in the lower tones even at low volumes
I also installed a remote for the monoblock amp so I can alter the gains on the sub anytime I need to depending on what type of music I'm listening to, might get a pic of that later as well

I also got a new camera :D
Cannon 400D with twin lens kit
gotta love tax return time
