Squeak under light braking

Postby rzzzwilson » Thu Aug 23, 2007 11:19 pm

Hi all,

I have a strange squeak/grind coming from the left-front wheel area when
I have the brakes on lightly and the suspension is working, going over
some small ripples, for instance. The noise is a lot like the hinges on a
door that have seized and the door is opened slowly. The noise is
modulated in time with suspension movement. Without brakes on
the same surface there is no noise.

I'm guessing that the noise may be caused by a sway bar bushing,
though the no noise without brakes doesn't fit that theory.

Any thoughts?

I would have suggested brake pads.... The hitting the bumps might just be enough for the metal clips etc holding the pads in, to move onto the disc perhaps?

I'd just whip the wheel off and have a quick look at the pads and condition of the disc for starters. Mine started doing this a few months ago, and eventually got worse.... Turned out to be needing new pads. :)
Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever.
