Jules,
I won't be using AC, my car is a clubman. The ecu on the S13 doesn't run the dash or any of that stuff so will be sticking with standard MX5 stuff there. I will have to rework the standard S13 ecu wiring loom to make it fit better to the MX5 chassis and different engine position. I will use the S13 afm and airbox with custom piping to suit the best layout. Then a front mount intercooler, oil cooler and new alloy radiator should take care of the cooling requirements. Then a new dump pipe that finishes in the same location as my current one allowing me to use my existing exhaust.
Makes it sound simple really doesn't it.
Ben,
Having done engine conversions before and started pricing parts for this one, here's a quick breakdown using the Speedworks fitting kit.
S13 front cut $3600
Fitting Kit with modded sump $3800
Engineers report $1500
FMIC, Rad, piping $2000
Then there's the reworking of the wiring, and heaps of other little jobs which you can diy or pay someone. Either way budget $500 - $2000 in extra bits and pieces, more if you need a new exhaust/fuel pump/fuel lines etc.
Basically it can suck up $10k - $15k pretty easily. I reckon I can dry sump for less $$$ than the modded sump from Speedworks, given there mouts alone are $1500. Dry sumping adds complexity (and power) as you have to run am external pump, lines, and a tank in the boot for your oil.
My brother is getting a quote on getting a custom sump done as he doesn't want a dry sump so I will let you know the cost there.
