Popping sound from Throttle body?

Postby silvermiata » Tue Aug 21, 2007 10:59 am

After i rev the car, as it comes back down to idle, i have this popping sound coming from throttle body /air intake. It is as if the car is backfiring, but the sound is much less. I can hear \"pop pop\" once or twice and the car idles normal without any noise.

I changed the ignition leads and changed the sparkies 5000 kays ago...

Did anyone experience this? any ideas?

Do you have an NB8A??

I have an NB8A and i too get a popping/gurgling sound coming from my intake-podfilter  Ive noticed it for a while and it tends to do it when i move the steering wheel from side to side when the car is stationary and probably also when its moving but cant here coz of road noise. :?

If anybody else has had this it would be great to know whats causing it and why and if its causing damage to somthing

Yes it is nb8a, it started doing it 3 weeks ago when i put a pod filter... then i have taken the pod off, but pop sound is still there. I have also realised it happens when i drive the car, it does not happen too much when i rev it standing. :?

i just got some TB cleaner, and some iridium plugs, will remove the TB and give it a good clean/degrease tonite.

Popping in the inlet side usually means the mixture is lean, which is fair enough if you're backing off - you don't need fuel for that anyway.

Pod filters and CAIs just help you to hear it better.
