brakes squeaking

Postby 16bit » Tue Aug 21, 2007 12:24 pm

ok people I need new pads at least. car is 98 nb

I am thinking of these Hawk ones

http://www.mx5mania.com.au/product584.htm

and getting some dba slotteds all round maybe

I can't quite afford to get braided lines as well just yet if I get the disks. So I suppose if I can get away with just machining the disks would getting the braided lines be a better investment for the dollars spent over getting the slotted rotors? please keep in mind that I don't do track days (yet) but I do drive spiritedly quite often as I don't use the car to commute to work.

If i get the pads and rotors its going to cost about $1150 fitted

but if i get the pads, machine the rotors and get the braided lines its going to cost about $900

It depends on the rim, but they do fit underneath NB8A rims. :)

Boyracer sometimes has NB8B brake sets for sale, as do MX5 Mania, also Mazford down in Milperra might have some.

I just bought a set of these from MX5plus in Brissie. Can't wait to get them. The front rotor is 270mm diameter versus 235mm on mine and the back is 275mm versus 230mm on mine. Should come in useful for those Mt Dandenong runs and if I get out on the track.Only had 17,000k's on them as well.

Oh, and you can sell your NB8A brakes to a person with an NA. It's an upgrade for them. Should get at least $500 back. 8)
