So Ive been reversed into
Well I got reversed into tonite.....by my dad backing out of the driveway....total damage is:
-Scratched wheel, will need to be replace
-Damaged front guard
-Bonnet hinge broken and knocked out of alignment
-Front bumper scratched and knocked out of alignment
-Lip spoiler scratched and cracked
-Scratched wheel, will need to be replace

Bummer man! Must be something in the air at the moment!
Once again I'll make a shameless plug for Hume Smash Repairs Fuzzlet. My car is superb after their repair work, so I wouldn't think about going anywhere else.
Biggest issue might be the insurance one - isn't there some problem with family members doing the damage on their own property? Its to stop people doing bogus claims from memory.
Anyway, guards and front are relatively cheap, but the bonnet is dearer (alloy panel). If the bonnet hinge is bent then the bonnet is most likely bent too... If you have insurance problems you could buy the panels and take them to Humes for prep and paint maybe?

Well my car was parked on the street, and my father was backing out of the driveway...it all happened on a public road. As for insurance problems, I'll speak to shannons tomorrow and they can chase up the insurance on dads car (work car). BD - can u plz PM me the details of hume smash repairs? I was already planning on getting them to do the work.
The damage doesnt look too bad in the photos, it wasnt until after I took them, i noticed the bonnet looked a little odd

I'll take the headlights, body kit, mags, and full turbo kit, including exhaust. $2k sound OK?

Late last year my girfriend's dad wanted to make some room between his car and their other car in front, so he reversed stright into my car. Still haven't got it fixed though. Keep forgetting. Damage isn't bad, just needs a new badge, sand and respray the front bumper, and replace that aluminium plate that goes from the radiator to the bumper.
Actually, I was planning on doing the prep work (sanding) myself to reduce costs. Maybe the upcoming dodgy day!

Let me know if it goes ahead. My front bar has a shopping centre scrape on it that I've been meaning to do something about. This might make it a bit cheaper if it's a case of just getting the bits sprayed.

Well an update. Car was towed to Hume Smash on saturday (Thanks to BD for their contact details), and the quote got sent to shannons today. Hopefully it'll be back on the road soon...

Well an update. Car should be back to me my friday, however it may take a couple more weeks for the new rim to arrive, but I can at least drive on the old one. Having said that, $530 for a new SE rim is farking insane!

Why are OEM wheels so expensive?
First, the Mazda factory buys the wheels from the wheel maker, then it has to be marked and packaged as per Mazda's extensive requirements as to how many barcodes are on it, the strength of the box etc. so count on paying extra for that.
Then Mazda Japan has to make a profit on it, then they ship it to Australia, where Mazda Australia has to also make a margin and pay for local transportation and stocking fees, then the wheel goes to the dealer who also has to make a margin and so it goes on.
Before you know it, an item that cost $50 in a raw state becomes a $500 wheel.
Simple!
I know of many products that cost say 25 cents out of the factory in China, and retail here for $29.95, so these huge increases are not unusual.
If the general public knew the margins that our department stores make, or how they treat their suppliers, I reckon it could cause a real uproar.
