Hello,
After much time searching finally purchased a black MX-5 NB. Overall I am extremely happy with the vehicle however would like so suggestions of the suspension.
Although the car handles well, I find the ride a little to floating and wobberly at times. What struts bars would you suggest to stiffen up the chasis. I am looking a purchasing a style bar and modifying it to have four points more like a roll bar.
I do not necessarily wish to have to go to coilovers. Would stock shocks and some decents lower springs stiften up the ride a little. Any suggestions are welcome. It is a road car only but drivability is why I purchased an MX5 and the good looks.
I also find the rear end drifting out a bit around corners, I know the tyres a old but?
The car more than likely needs a good wheel alignment but with on a few months left on the tyres it can weight until then.
It has some nice 16\" wheels on it, aftermarket. Can anyone suggest a good repairer in Melbourne for gutter rash?
Cheers
Benjamin

Hi Ben,
Check this out..:

i've heard a few first hand accounts of that butterfly brace, and hear it signficantly increases chassis rigidity and handling.

i can't brain today.. i have the dumb..
Hi ,I love the look of the style type rollbar, but if you try to modify it you will have to grind before welding and ruin the nice shiny chrome.
As for the brace, there is opinions both that it helps, and does nothing , so I recomend getting to some organised mx5 events. People will be very helpful, maby take you for a ride to show, and feel the changes they made. If you are lucky they may even give you a drive.
Eventually you have to jump in , buy stuff and give it a try, but having actually been in a car you like, and copying what they did will save money.

Thank-you for your responses
I think I will start with
1) A set of new tyres
2) New KYB shocks and Eibach lowering springs
3) A good wheel alignment
4) A top front brace
5) A style bar modified.
Cheers
