voodoo knob from mx5 mania

Postby atomic » Wed Aug 15, 2007 12:18 pm

Does anyone know how much they charge for the standard spun aluminium knob? The website just says 'from $60' and no one is picking up the phone...

Thx

I'm not so sure if they can get them anymore. :frown: Send them an email or just keep trying on the phone. They've got a couple of extra guys there for the phone and over the counter stuff now so they were probably dealing with a customer on the phone or in the shop at the time. :)

Hmm... ok thanks. I'll check with them again but if it's in the $100 ball park then I might order online instead

I would go for the Magnum Voodoo over the standard one, it just a little too small..

this might sound like a dumb question, but does the knob get hot to the touch at all? i know when i touch the actual gear stick on my car it is often very hot. so i figure if a etal knob is attached to this, then that would heat up too ? ? currently with the plastic / leather knob this is not an issue.

This is what I got... a forum buy through OzHonda contacts... hehe
Its the Razo RA42/43 (whichever is the gunmetal one)

It's metal... and I can feel the heat through the transmission tunnel too when I put my hand on the gear boot... but somehow when it comes to the knob... it's still cool to the touch! Maybe it has something to do with the plastic collar?

They used to be around $95 for the Voodoo Magnum. They also used to take a while to come in and sell out in a couple of days. :)

I don't imagine things have got any less busy since I was there, so if the phone isn't answered ... leave a voice mail.

The knobs do get a bit warm in the sun and cold on a winter morning, but not unbearably so.

Oh, and they're really, really nice to use. :D

I have a Voodoo Magnum, and it fills your hand better than the tiny NA6 one - which used to make the palm of my hand ache after a spirited (read \"lots of gear changes\") lunchtime run in the Adelaide Hills.

Atomic, I have the Voodoo spun aluminium knob for my MX5
It looks and feels great but the brushed effect on the knob do wear off since it is not protected/coated (wear and tear)
I got mine online from Team Voodoo since Mania was out of stock at the time

If you want a relatively cheap knob with the same looks/feel, you can go for the APX titanium gear knob
It's supposed to be made out of real titanium (oooh .... ahhhh) and it has the burnt-exhaust-tip-rainbow (I made that word up) look
I think it retails for $50 last time I read it in another forum

Yeah I saw that other thread and looks good for the price but most ppl seem to suggest the voodoo for the mx5.

The thing is, it looks like it can be purchased for similar money if buying online so I guess I'm wondering what makes the voodoo so desirable compared to other similar ones out there?

Suggestions?

It's the power of the chicken.
I stole Wayne's magnum knob, but I didn't like it as much as my smaller one so gave it back to him.

It's all personal preference.
