JDM instrument cluster, in NA8.. Its here and installed.

Postby green_comet » Mon Aug 13, 2007 3:16 pm

Hey all,

I just managed to get my hands on a JDM Instrument cluster, with AWD gear in it. I just wanted to know if I will have any trouble with the speedo, and tacho alignment as its from a JDM roadster, and going into a NA8.

Im a little worried, as the speedo on the na8 goes to 220kmh, and the jdm one I bought goes to 200kmh.

Will it all be out of whack?? or does it not make a difference which cluster I use, as it all runs off the speedo cable??

JDM Cluster..

any help would be great..

Sounds promising.. I have gps too, so ill give it a go when the cluster gets here..

Whats a little worrying is the 200kmh point on both look to be in a very similar spot, even though the JDM cluster starts at 6 o'clock.

Cheers

I would be worried about that too. I think you'll be out of whack, and by a fair margin too.

Even though the scale of the dial has changed, the increment that the speedo goes up is still the same. It will probably need a speed sender that comes off the gearbox from a jap model car. Pinch one off an import. :)

Don't take my word for it. I'm just thinking out loud (or on the keyboard...you know what I mean). Do the unstrument clusters interpret a signal? If they do, then you may be OK.

Either way, the only way you'll know for sure is by chucking it in and comparing it to your satnav. Good luck! :)

Thats what im hoping, Fastfreddy got a cluster with AWD gear out of JDM roadster, and connected it to his NA8.. He told me that his speedo is fine, and it all just bolted in and worked. I think the speedo in his only goes to 200kmh too..

Ill have to have a chat to him..

Well the JDM cluster came in the mail on Friday, and its spot on..

I checked all speeds with the GPS, and its pretty much spot on at every one. Its even more accurate than my old cluster, at 100kmh on the old cluster the gps said 95kmh. With the new cluster at 100kmh the gps says 99kmh. :D

Im very happy with the way it looks, and works.. Heres a few pics.

The backlight in the last pic looks bad, but its fine in real life..
