Short notice extreme dodginess - Brisbane

Postby Uncle Arthur » Fri Aug 10, 2007 10:34 pm

Anyone in Brisbane available tomorrow to assist with the reinstall and startup of my non-waterlogged engine???

I got as far as having the motor positioned in the engine bay, hanging from the block and tackle, and the car on stands to make some room for fitment.....

However, with just one of me it makes it difficult to reposition the engine, as well as operate the block and tackle, as well as edge the engine into position..... as well as be in the car to direct the gearbox into location.....

I can do beer, but I'm limited by transit options to pizza rather than the obligatory wingzzzzzzz - plus wingz takes some preparation, and I'm not worthy (not like Wayne who can cook, but can't operate a spanner.....)

For those who have my number - just call me, or show up. If not, send me a PM.

By the sounds of that....you must have knocked your front teeth out. In which case I apologise for my inappropriate remark.

otherwise your humor left with the hydrolic lock up.

 No - it was left somewhere on the garage floor after about 15 hours so far of struggling to install a motor and gearbox on my own - and having to go back time and time again to undo/redo things that were impossible to do first time round.

I might find it somewhere in the next 8-10 hours worth, presuming when i turn the key i don't have to start all over again in reverse.

It's heart is back in and it lives. Running a bit poorly ATM due to a few small issues which UA will explain in due course.

Nearing completion of re-install.

Finally back on line - had dinner out tonight.

First - thanks to JBT, Todd, Chris and Mickfred for their assistance today or offers thereof. Another big day, and it's still not quite right....

Engine is in - running, but not running quite right. In doing the coolant re-route it seems I neglected to install one small green plug, which tells the ECU how hot the car is - so that's going to be rerouted to the front of the motor instead - meaning I had to make another blanking plate this afternoon.....

So hopefully it will all run again sometime this week.....

Well - finally some good news (I suppose I keep discounting the good news that I got the damn thin in the car in the first place).......

You can see in the pics below I now have two sensors fitted to the blanking plate in the front thermostat housing. The one to the rear is the ICU temp sensor. Now that its back in she purrs like a kitten, but is idling a little fast - no surging though which it had last night.

So that show and shine might be a possibility afterall.

 Nice coolant re-route! :D Hopefully, the benefits are worthwhile.

Actually, It looks like you took down the nearest street sign and bent the pole into shape.

Glad to see her back up and runing. Regarding the pod filter... have you thought of getting an inclosed simota filter, then putting a 90deg PVC bend from the end of it into the firewall hole? The enclosed Simotas are quite short so should fit in the little gap nicely. Drawing cold air directly from that hole would surely be beneficial.

Just a thought. :)

I would have loved to hear the potty mouth. Arthur, you shouldn't be doing these things on your own!

PS: We have to mount that conrod in a frame for the pool room
Perhaps it can be handed from \"spannerhead\" to \"spannerhead\" as an award.
