My Alpine works fine with the NB antenna.

Try Andrews solution, that way you don't have to put some sorta S2000 rubber phallus on your modern car.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Is that why the NB's one is made of metal and about 1metre long?lol

Yea I do like Andrew's work-around but where would I put the switch? The location in Andrew's (immaculate) car is where the foggies switch is and I'm reluctant to drill holes in the plastic. Any suggestions?

You're only saying that because JVC's light up BLUE!! :lol:

mine lights up red ... :mrgreen:

The JVC unit in my 5 lights up all sorts of colours, or I can just set it to light up in any one of them, but they all look so good, I just let it keep changing them as I drive along.
Keeps the passengers interest up so they don't notice how fast I'm going.

How about an amplified stubby aerial?
I have an Aerpro Nissan Xtrail. You can get them from supercheap if they let you flick through the catalogue for the right part number.

It covers up any dents that the lowlife who ripped the original one out left behind :evil:

Only downside is kids like to use it as a joystick :P

Thanks for that amps I will check it out.
Does it fit ok? The std one has a wedge shape base to account for the curve of the panel.

Cheers

Yeah it has a nice rubber gasket that confirms to the cur in the panel.

Another option is the aerial for the CRV hondas i think.

Look here :)

Aerpro

AP198 = Honda
AP199 = Nissan
AP173 = am/fm and gsm aerial with 2 connectors 1 for radio the other for a phone car kit, i decided against it as people would have two chances at hearing me on handsfree with the roof down.
Huh?

Alot of people in USA use the Shark Attack II antennas.

Image

It has a built in amplifier, and is meant to get excellent reception. Looks pretty sweet too.

Avaliable from..

http://www.locustom.com/shark2_kit.htm

Theres even an install guide for the NB.

http://www.locustom.com/miata_fender_install.htm

Here is how it looks on an NA, for those who are interested.

BTW. These are the same Antenna as the Metra 44-UA46, do a Google search and you will find it much cheaper than the Locustom one.

The cheapest I could find was $26 on Amazon. Here's the link.

Might be a good choice for you Ben, considering the problems you have had trying to get the power antenna to work..

I think they look nice and neat..

Your right mate, they don't look bad at all and I would probably have considered it at another time. There's news on the electric front as well. Might have it actually sorted out soon. Turns out my wiring was spot on but both electric aerials were busted, even the brand new one :shock: . Trying to get a replacement through Mazda at the moment.

So to sum up so far the solution is a JVc unit that lights up red,has a big red start button, is shaped like a phallus and fits in the ciggy lighter socket and is brought in from the states? :lol:
Definitely not OEM eh?
You guys are a hoot!! :mrgreen:
