Low beam not working

Postby mr_rotary » Thu Aug 02, 2007 8:43 pm

I had the luck of finding out first thing this morning my low beam does not work

My headlights on my NA6 pop up, parkers are on and high beam works but not my low beam.

I have taken the headlights out and cleaned the connections, cleaned the earth which sits almost under the washer bottle, checked the fuse (30amp) and checked and cleaned the terminals of the relay. The larger relay on the right (towards the passenger side) clicks on and off however the one in the middle has no sound?

Unfortunately I do not have a multimeter handy. Is there anything I missed or any clues as to what mat be happening? Or have I lucked out and blown both headlights?

The quickest way to check if it is the bulbs is to replace one......K-Mart or Super Cheap will supply you give a cheap one just to see if that fixes your problem.......or borrow one of another car..they are just common H4 globes

Mine are not a bulb - it's a complete large lamp unit - old school syle like RX-3/RX-7 etc! I might grab one out of the RX-7.

Ah, ok.....you should take the opportunity to upgrade your headlights with something like a Hella. You will get much better light output and be able to choose from a big range of H4 bulbs. The Hellas cost around $120 including bulb. Most (if not all) 7 inch headlights will fit.

Replaced both with the older RX-7 lamps which bolted straight it. Seems I lucked it and blew both out at once

My na6 blew both low beams at the same time too, many years ago. Luckily I could just put in new globes.
