17x7 issues??

Postby Jt-1600 » Sat Jul 28, 2007 3:17 pm

Hi, i am currently looking at a set of 17 x 7 lenso light s2 rims for a 90 model NA6, but im not sure if i'm going to have issues with scrubbing or not? i was wondering if anyone has previously fitted this size to this model and if there were any issues or did u require your guards being rolled?
Cheers..

i doubt you will have issues with these, ask for the offset probably to be between 40 and 42 id say which will work. Alot of people on here who run 17x7 have that offset

No no rolling need they will be tucked way up in the guards!! :)

post pics when you get em.. ive been tempted myself due to their weight.. pitty the offset isn't the best though as they are probably aimed at Honda's etc.

cheers

I had 17x7s on my car with Konis and Kings and didn't have any guard rub or roll guards. :)

spend some time in this section of the forum and you'll see the pros vs. cons of 17's against something like 15's. This topic has really been done to death.

ps lots of cars on 17's etc in this long thread

I think there's plenty of guys here with 17x7s on their cars.

At the time I needed to get new tyres and for the ones I wanted to get, it was only another $300 for new wheels and tyres. So I got some 16x7s and 45 profile tyres. The 17s were 40 profile.
I found the 17s seemed to scrub the inside of the tyre quicker then the rest. However I found the same with my 16s, so I changed my alignment setup and we'll see how the new tyres look in about a year I guess. It will be that long, with the amount of kms I do.

If you really want 17s because of the cool look with that size, then I would suggest taking a look at a nice set of 16s as well. However select a set of 16s that have the spoke design going right to the outter edge of the wheel. It does make them look slightly larger then they are.

As long as you have right profile tyres, its NOT the diameter of the rim that defines whether they'll fit.

Its the width and offset.

The number of posts with people asking if 17's will fit without stating the offset is driving me nuts.

ps, stick to smaller rims, big heavy rims suck arse

I had 17x7's that i thought were good until i drove a car with 15s. It was such a huge improvement i ditched the 17s in favour of some light 15s. that said, 17s can look great.

I think i've decided against 17's now.. im runnig 15x7's now and it drives like a dream so i dont want to sacrifice that.. so i might go to a 16 if i can find the right rim in a light weight form.. but if i cant i no of a good set of 15's that i really like that'll i get.. i am sure of 1 thing tho.. they r going to be black in colour.. :D
Thanks for your help & opinions guys..
